TEN ARTISTS COMPETE FOR A WALL IN MELBOURNE - ONE WINNER TO REPRESENT MALAYSIA AT WALL TO WALL BENALLA FESTIVAL 2018


Visit Victoria and Publika Shopping Gallery are pleased to announce the selected top ten Malaysian artist for Make Your Mark in Melbourne Street Art Competition.

Catch the ten finalists creating their respective works of art live at The Square, Publika Shopping Gallery from 15th to 18th April 2017. Their works will not only be open for viewing by the public, but members of the public will also have a role to play in the selection of the grand winner by voting for their favourite works of art through the website www.makeyourmarkinmelbourne.com. Aside to the digital voting process, there is an esteemed panel of judges that also includes Shaun Hossack, the founder of Juddy Roller Studios and artistic director of Wall to Wall Festival Benalla.

The top 10 finalists were selected based on originality and uniqueness of artwork, clarity of concept that reflected the selected themes, professional quality of submission, ability to reproduce on a larger space and presentation of artwork in a unique way.

The grand prize winner will be announced on 26th April 2017. The winner will be collaborating with the respected Juddy Roller Studios in arty Fitzroy, and its founder Shaun Hossack, as well as getting a wall at Victoria’s Wall to Wall Festival Benalla 2018, the only street art festival of its kind in Australia!

The artworks will continue to be exhibited at The Square, Publika until 30 April 2017. Visitors to Publika can also take part in the digital photo contest via Facebook by simply taking selfie or wefie and also include pictures with the street artwork on display with the hastag #visitmelbourne.

Wall to Fall Festival Benalla presented by Juddy Roller, as headed by Shaun Hossack, is Victoria’s first regional street art festival that runs annually in March. Artists involved in Wall to Wall Festival Benalla since its inception has included renowned street artists such as Rone, Adnate, Askew, Ears, Choq, Shawn Lu, Putos, Slicer, Rashe, Sirum, Kit Ritz, Guido Van Helton, Dvate, 23rd Key and Deams.

Melissa is an artist and an astrologer from Johor Bahru. She connects the mystery of life with expression through art. She has been involved in solo and group art exhibitions in Netherlands, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Denmark and has won awards in Gabon and Malaysia.

AFIRUDDIN RAMDZAN aka DEAN. R


Dean. R is a visual artist and muralist from Sarawak. He has taken part in numerous well-known projects namely #tanahairku by Petronas and SACOFORTRESS by SACOFA Sdn Bhd. Dean. R had his collaboration exhibition at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in 2015.

MOHAMAD HARISUDIN BIN ABDUL RASHID

Haris is constantly inspired by animals and nature, and is always seeking the connections and what we can learn from nature. He does not have a particular medium he considers a favourite as many of his works are of mixed media art concept.

LOO LOK CHERN aka CLOAKWORK


Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Cloakwork is a multidisciplinary creative person who works as a graffiti artist as well as an illustrator. Over the past, he has collaborated with international brands like Petronas, BMW, Volkswagen, Adidas and more. His works are dedicated to graffiti and tends to experiment beyond the constraints of graffiti.

MOHD AMIR LUTFI aka AMEY SHEIKH ALI


Amey is a self- taught graffiti writer / artist from Miri. Inspired by geometrical shapes and lines, he has participated in some major corporate projects such as Petronas #tanahairku and Shell Malaysia’s 125th Anniversary.

KOH HOOI SAN, CARYN


Previously from the medical field, Caryn Koh has since rediscovered her passion in the arts. Caryn has been notably recognised for her #sekolahseries illustrations. She draws them in various situations based on her personal experiences or her thoughts toward current matters to spread her message.

LEONARD SIAW QUAN CHENG

Leonard first developed a passion for drawing at a very young age and has never stopped practising ever since. He specialises in realism style with the combination of optical illusion. Leonard has been invited by various institutes such as museum, gym, homestay, café and studios to transform their space and surrounding.

MUHAMMAD ABQARI aka  SNAKE TWO

Snake Two is an artist and illustrator with a strong background in graffiti & mural art, graphic design, illustration and typography with over 5 years of experience. Snake Two has been involved in projects like #tanahairku by Petronas and Volunteer Malaysia iM4U.

CHANG JEAN LYNN, JEAN

Jean Lynn is a freelance artist for 2 years and a graduate in Bachelor of Arts in Animation. She has participated in various exhibitions namely Be My Protector Exhibition by Change Your World Sdn Bhd and Endangered Species Conservation Tour Exhibition.

MOHD MAHFUDZ BIN ABD RASHID aka SNOZZE

Snozze started on Graffiti Art and Street Art in Malaysia in 2006. In 2012 and 2013, he has participated in one of the SEA event held at Yangon, Myanmar. He then continued to travel around to give art talks and exchange ideas and culture in the perspective of street art.
